Majuro is the capital city of Marshall Islands
Once called “the pearl of the Pacific” by Robert Louis Stevenson, the Majuro Atoll is one of the greatest treasures of the Marshall Islands. The 53 isles that make up the capital district are the economic, political and commercial heart of the country, and they remain just as charming as when Stevenson landed on their shores.
The city of Majuro itself offers few traditional tourist attractions, but the capital is a good base from which to explore many of the surrounding islands. The most popular sight for travelers is Laura Beach, which is about 40 kilometers away from the town on the main island's western tip.
The Arno Atoll is about 20 kilometers from the Majuro Atoll. The Arno Atoll is composed of 133 islands and is the country's only atoll that is served by public boats. Longar Point is a particularly popular place within the atoll, known for its incredible deep-sea fishing opportunities. The waters off the coast are home to an abundance of marine life, including marlin, yellowfin tuna, sailfish and mahi-mahi.
