ヴォージュ山脈

The Vosges are a mountain range in eastern France, located west of the Rhine River and near the German border. They are part of the larger Central Uplands of Europe. The highest peak is Grand Ballon at 1,424 meters. The Vosges stretch mainly across the Alsace and Lorraine regions. They are not as high as the Alps but are known for forests, lakes, and rounded summits. The area has ski resorts like La Bresse and Gérardmer. The closest major city is Strasbourg, about 50 km from the central Vosges.

The Vosges Ski areas

The Vosges Mountains have several small ski areas. Resorts like Ventron (Frère Joseph), Rouge Gazon, and Le Markstein offer shorter slopes, fewer lifts, and quiet environments, good for beginners and day trips. These areas usually have altitudes below 1,300 m, so snow conditions can change depending on the winter. They focus on alpine and cross-country skiing, and are located near small towns in northeastern France, such as Thann, Remiremont, and Mulhouse.
