Monti del Pindo

Monti del Pindo

The Pindus Mountains are a mountain range in southern Europe. They run mostly through mainland Greece and extend slightly into southern Albania. The highest peak is Smolikas (2,637 m), located in northern Greece. The range starts near the border with Albania and stretches southeast across Greece. It affects regions like Epirus, Thessaly, and Central Greece. The Pindus Mountains are known for deep valleys and steep slopes. Towns like Metsovo, Konitsa, and Kalambaka are close to the range. The mountains are part of the larger Dinaric-Hellenic mountain chain, but the Pindus is considered a separate range in Greece.
