What’s a website?

Everybody knows what a website is, but no one really knows… or do they?

Let’s start thinking on what a website really is…

A website is a system on the internet that can display content, process user input, and execute scripts through code.
The main types of websites are dynamic websites (like e-commerce or blogs) and static websites. This means that a website consists of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other types of files (PHP, Python, .NET, etc.) hosted on a server, that can also be connected to a database, and both connected to the internet to be accessible remotely.

How is a website born?

uhmm… a website is not born, is created. The technical call for a “website creation” is web development, because envolves an architeture, coded functionalities, and styling (the design). Webdesign is not web development. Design is styling the content and functionalities already existing…
