I’m gathering some “excellent from my point of view” scientific videos about us—you and me… our evolution, where we came from, how we got here, and some other cool ones. I’ll try to keep it very curated, so if something shows up one day and is gone the next… it’s probably because, during sleep, I decided it wasn’t good enough!
Hope you enjoy…
1. The history of the universe in 10 minutes, 19 seconds video… and some millions views
This video tells the story of 13.8 billion years of the universe, showing how our own lives fit into that timeline. The history of the universe is explained in less than 10 minutes. The rest of the video talks about how the project was made… The video already has millions of views, but you can share it with someone who might enjoy learning something new.
The timeline can be view here bellow, or at the source @toscaleseries.com/time

2. Humans migration across the Globe… in only 2 minutes and 23 seconds!
In only 2 minutes and 23 seconds, this video shows an animation of the scientific theory of human migration, starting from when the first Homo sapiens are estimated to have appeared around 200,000 years ago. It explains the possible paths humans took as they spread across the globe… The video already has millions of views, but feel free to share it with someone who might enjoy learning something new.
3. The world from the beginning of civilization to today!
This video shows a map animation of the world from the beginning of civilization to today. It’s 16 minutes and 35 seconds long, but I usually take longer to watch it because I pause and rewind to check facts. It already has over 17 million views, but you can still share it with someone who might enjoy learning something new.
4. Learn to Fly – Foo Fighters Rockin’1000 Official Video
Dozens of millions of views…
This video is the proof that humans together can make a change… it’s just incredible. It shows 1,000 musicians playing “Learn to Fly” by Foo Fighters to invite Dave Grohl to perform in Cesena, Italy. This moment started what is now called the “Biggest Rock Band on Earth.”
The group, Rockin’1000, is made up of music lovers, professional producers, filmmakers, sound engineers, and communication experts. They organize massive live events where thousands of musicians play together around the world. They are rockin1000.com
5. How religion spread around the world
This is a sensitive topic, but this video—with tens of millions of views and sources from credible references shown at the end—shows how the five major religions in the world spread over time in an animated timeline. Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are five of the biggest religions in the world. Personally, I don’t follow or defend any specific religion, but I believe everyone has the right to be whatever they choose.
6. How Human Skin Color Changed?… Maybe We’re Not So Different After All
Because we all have different skin colors, I thought this video would be interesting for everyone. It’s well explained with animations, has scientific support, and is easy to understand. This is Part 4 of a multi-part series on Human Skin Color, supported by the National Science Foundation’s Division of Undergraduate Education under Award No. DUE2020221.
7. Ocean currents around the world… a lot of important information in 5 minutes, 26 seconds
Video About the World’s Oceans in Motion—currents, temperatures, salinity, and more.
Show it to your kids—it’s a great way to help them become smarter and more curious about the planet!
